Introduction
With a particular focus on wind power this seminar will explore long-run performance of wind farms and the relationship between wind speeds/load factor and economics, how we make judgements about long term cost trends and ‘learning curves’ for energy technologies, and how to reflect such matters in policy. The policy discussion will consider the role of auctions and other approaches to capturing and driving cost reduction. Speakers are Professor Richard Green, Imperial College Business School, Dr Robert Gross Imperial College Centre for Energy Policy and Technology, Simon Moore, Policy Exchange.
