Introduction
Each June BP publishes the annual data that has been collected on the world’s energy markets, to assess what has happened this last year and how last year’s experience relates to longer-term trends. The Review provides an objective global overview of energy production, consumption, trade, reserves and prices. The aim is to understand both the forces behind today’s headlines as well as the underlying trends that are shaping the new energy landscape.
2017 saw record growth in solar capacity, ‘OPEC plus’ production cuts and a surge in Chinese gas demand. How are these developments affecting global energy markets and what are the implications for the energy transition?
To find out more, please join Bob Dudley, group chief executive, and Spencer Dale, group chief economist, at this year’s launch of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy.
