BIEE is pleased to announce that Matthew Leach, Professor of Energy and Environmental Systems at the University of Surrey, has agreed to chair the committee for its 11th Academic Conference, which takes place on September 21/22 2016. Matthew served on the committee for the 2010 academic conference and is a past chair and member of the BIEE Council.
Speaking about the role he said “The BIEE conference has a special place in UK and international work on energy economics and policy: bringing those active in research and application of energy economics together from across the academic, business and public policy sectors. I am delighted to chair the conference for 2016. The challenges and the pace of change in all aspects of the energy domain remain high, and the need and opportunities for well-founded thinking on economics and its linkage to other aspects of society is great. We have a strong committee in place and intend to prepare and deliver an exciting conference in September 2016, drawing out the expertise of the BIEE membership and the wider energy economics community.”
