The BIEE’s third ” Future of Energy” lecture will be given by Iain Conn, CEO Centrica, on May 4th 2016 at the Royal Society in London. Iain was appointed Chief Executive of Centrica plc on 1 January 2015. He is Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Disclosure Committee.
He has a wealth of experience heading a global consumer brand. He possesses a deep understanding of the energy sector built up over a lifetime in the industry with a commitment to customers and safety. Iain was previously Chief Executive, Downstream, of BP’s refining and marketing division, a position he held for seven years. Iain was a Board member of BP for 10 years from 2004 and has previously held a number of senior roles throughout BP including in trading, exploration and production, and the management of corporate functions such as safety and human resources. He also served as a non-executive director and senior independent director of Rolls-Royce Holdings plc from January 2005 until May 2014.
Iain is a non-executive director of BT Group plc, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Imperial College Business School, a member of the Council of Imperial College, a member of the advisory board of the Centre for European Reform, a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists and a member of the CBI’s President’s Committee.
Iain is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Institution of Chemicals Engineers, and the City and Guilds of London Institute.
