European Energy – Synergies and Conflicts

Introduction

The 5th BIEE academic conference was held on the 22nd and 23rd September 2005.

The main topic of this conference is European energy policy and issues in relation to the individual Member States’ objectives and in the wider perspective of its neighbours, being Russia, North Africa or US. This brings us to explore the synergies, but also the conflicts, in energy policies and objectives in the contexts of energy security, the single competitive market, sustainability and the environment.
