We are delighted to announce that Volker Beckers, BIEE President, has been appointed an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE). This honour has been conferred upon Volker by His Majesty The King, on the advice of the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, in recognition of his services to Nuclear Energy.
Volker has built a distinguished career spanning over 30 years in the energy industry, where he has held prominent leadership roles across both the private and public sectors. Volker’s strategic vision and leadership have been key to driving forward numerous initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable future.
After graduating from Cologne University in Economics & Business Administration, Volker began his career in the tech sector before transitioning into the energy industry, where he notably served as Group CFO and later Group CEO for RWE npower.
Volker currently holds various positions as a non-executive director and chair across a portfolio of private companies, as well as government bodies. He also contributes to academia as a guest lecturer at Imperial College London and served as Chair of the Advisory Board at the Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business at Rotterdam School of Management. In 2019, Volker was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Group of ewi – the Energy Institute of the University of Cologne.
